Load Balancing
by Mohan Kapoor, Supervisor, Himalayan Websites
To make use of our load balancing service you must buy or already own
a domain name from a registrar. Then you need to allow us to handle your
domain at a DNS level, e.g. your domain has to point to domain name servers
of our choosing. Further you must operate two or more servers with the
same content.
Load balancing at the DNS level means that we maintain a list of IP numbers
for your domain and send visitors in a round-robin fashion from one server
to the next. There are no measurements of the effective server load going
on. The advantage of round-robin lies in its simplicity in that the request-load
will be equally shared by all servers on the list.
Load Balancing is included in our Information Logistics, Managed
Processing and Managed Web Space
solutions. See Domain Routing for prices.
