Mail Servers are used to store POP3 / IMAP e-mails as well as to send mail through SMTP.
To make use of our managed Mail Servers you must buy or already own a domain name from a registrar. Then you need to allow us to handle your domain at a DNS level, e.g. your domain has to point to domain name servers of our choosing.
The differences between dedicated and shared Mail Servers are as follows:

With a dedicated Mail Server you are the only business or institution using it, with a shared Mail Server other businesses or institutions will use the same hardware and software.

Dedicated Mail Servers come with a generous 100 GB monthly transfer allowance. Shared Mail Servers come with 15 GB monthly transfer allowance per domain.

Shared Mail Servers allocate 4 GB of Mail Space to a single domain.

Send mail on a shared mail server (SMTP) is not available as a result of misuse, e.g. unsolicited mass mailings. To protect all users of a shared mail server, e.g. to avoid blacklisting of the server, the send mail functionality is disabled.

Restrictions of Acceptable Use
Mail Servers may only be used to receive and send mail. To process mail dynamically, please have a look at our dedicated processing server packages.
Please note our acceptable use policy as stated in the User Guidelines. In addition the data centre reserves the right to disable or terminate services in order to investigate suspected violations of the User Guidelines. The cost of any such investigation will be charged to the customer at $150 per hour. We do not issue any refunds as a result of service termination due to suspected User Guidelines violation. The data centre reserves the right to disable servers if they are being attacked.
